Queensland Employers honoured by Defence Reservists

Four Queensland employers were recognised last month for their outstanding support to Reservists in the Australian Defence Force.

Held annually, the Defence Reserves Support Council Queensland State Employer Support Awards acknowledge Queensland employers who go above and beyond to support their employees who are Australian Defence Force Reservists.
The Chair of the Defence Reserves Support Council Queensland, Ms Jennifer Robertson, presented awards to the following 2017 winners at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Brisbane:

Small business - TT Building Surveyors, Bowen Hills

Medium business - Mystique Jewellers

Large business - SunWater Ltd, Brisbane City

Public Sector - Gladstone Regional Council, Gladstone

Captain Gordon Andrew representing the Head of Reserve and Youth Division, Rear Admiral Bruce Kafer, congratulated the Award winners in addition to thanking all Queensland employers who support Defence Reserve employees.

"Reservists make a valuable contribution to Australian's national security. These Awards publicly recognise the support employers give to their employees who serve as Reservists. Each day, employers support Reservists through flexible working arrangements and policies so that they can fulfill their Reserve duties. This is not only valued by the Reservist but also by the Australian Defence Force."
