HMAS Adelaide Employer Ship Tour
In a special event, Defence Reserve Support South Australia hosted three group tours for employers on board the HMAS Adelaide, 11-12 April.
Each group tour visited the ships bridge, the engine room, kitchen, mess hall and the ships hospital. In the ship’s cargo area in-service helicopters, armoured vehicles, trucks and 4WD were stowed ready for their next sea voyage.
The tours also got a glimpse of the ship’s crew rehearsing for the Freedom of Entry to the City of Adelaide which was held on 13 April.
HMAS Adelaide (III) arrived in her namesake city only for the second time since commissioning.
The ship’s company conducted a five day port visit and took part in a number of events designed to maintain the special bond Navy enjoys with the residents of Adelaide.
These events included an official reception, ceremonial sunset, Freedom of Entry March and ship’s Open Day.
Following the visit, HMAS Adelaide set sail for her home port of Sydney to continue to make preparations for engagement in an Amphibious Task Group later this year.
